Overview
The Fatcat (NZ Patent
Application no. 532110) is of modular construction
and when assembled provides six large cabin
areas, with three deck areas.
This boat is capable of sleeping comfortably, in it's four hull cabins, 16 people.
These are large spacious cabins, each may contain one double berth, two singles
and ensuite.
The upper area has great visibility and comfort, this would contain galley, saloon
area, and forward driving position, step out onto large deck areas.
The polyethylene material makes this vessel ideal to beach and accessible to
shallow areas.
Designed as a recreational vehicle and ferry, a Fatcat was recently purchased
by Owen Rush and his wife Jill. Below is an extract from the recent NZ
Herald
article.
"It is tough and fittings can be fixed directly to the hulls. This aspect of
construction was a definite plus on the prototype's first long voyage once it
was sold to
Feilding earthmoving contractor Owen Rush and wife Jill.
Below are some edited extracts from the log of Fatcat's first voyage, from Auckland
to Wanganui, where the boat will be based. Rush was at the helm.
The skipper says it proved the shallow-draft (50cm) outboard-powered catamaran
could do everything its builder claimed."
